The Primary Care Leadership Program, dedicated to increasing access to primary care for the underserved, is now accepting applications from PA students and others. According to its founding organizations, National Medical Fellowships and the GE Foundation, the program “provides future health care professionals with an opportunity to experience the challenges and rewards of primary care practice in community health centers across the U.S.”

The 2018 program, which will take place in June and July, will have host sites in Massachusetts, Texas, California, and Illinois. Over the course of the program, scholars will gain experience in leadership, team-based projects, and health care service delivery. Scholars will also receive a stipend for the costs of attending the program.
To qualify, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Proof of U.S. citizenship or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) approval letter
- Current enrollment in an accredited medical school or graduate-level nursing or PA program located in the U.S.
- Identification as an underrepresented minority student in healthcare and/or socioeconomically disadvantaged student
- Demonstrated leadership early in career
- Commitment to serving medically underserved communities
